Tom launched his career as a videogame programmer before pursuing his PhD at Georgia Tech, where he pioneered cryo-EM fitting algorithms in the 2000s. Following stints at Roche and UCSD, Tom focused his biophysical and computational talents on drug modeling. He recently founded Digital Ether to bring AI-based molecular technologies to patient diagnostic and drug development.  From his time at the Mayo Clinic’s Center for Individualized Medicine, Tom was involved in discovery of a wide variety of therapeutic drugs.  His expertise in computational chemistry and molecular modeling allowed discovery of over 60 drugs in cancer, neurodegeneration, cardiology and other metabolic diseases.   Outside of his drug hunter efforts, Tom likes to go cross country backpacking, mountain biking, and adventuring in remote locations.  He's also an avid chess player and 3D digital artist.
